Michele Nguyen
2008 Salutatorian
Driven yet unfailing polite, Michelle is the force of a quiet hurricane. In class, her essays are articulate and insightful. She understands the meaning, although sometimes abstract, behind the words. She comprehends on a literal as well as metamorphic and figurative level. This understanding does not come naturally; it is the result of reading and reflecting, looking for depth. Her powers of analysis extend beyond the English classroom; she has been nominated for Leos in science, math and MERITS. She has received the AP Scholar award. She is one of two students at Westminster High School to be recognized as a Gates Millennium Scholar. Her participation in clubs such as the AP Club, where she is vice-president, attests to her ability to manage her time well. In addition, she has clocked more than 150 hours of community service and is presently holding down a job.
Michelle will be attending UCLA where she hopes to pursue a career in the medical field. As a doctor she will reply on precision of science, on her own time it is not difficult to see her settling down in an overstuffed chair and losing herself in a good book. Congratulations to Michelle and her parents.
