Congratulations to the 2006 WHS Academic Decathlon team!
Out of 87 teams across Orange County WHS placed 2nd Overall and beat last year's champion, Trabuco Hills. The team won 1st Place in the Super Quiz Written, and 2nd Place in the Super Quiz Relay.

Our OCAD team consisted of 13 dedicated and hard working students - 7 Juniors and 4 Seniors. Team member Alan Nguyen won 2nd Place Overall, Kristy Nguyen won 3rd Place Overall, Janie Le 4th Place Overall, Khoa Nguyen 5th Place Overall and also Cory Pham 5th Place Overall.

Individual medals went to
Phuc Duong: 2nd Place Music, 5th Place Speech.
Robert Hyatt: 4th Place Art, 2nd Place Literature, 2nd Place Music, and 5th Place Science.
Janie Le: 1st Place Art, 1st Place Essay, 2nd Place Literature, 2nd Place Music, and 2nd Place Science.
Alan Nguyen: 3rd Palce Art, 3rd Place Economics, 1st Place Math, 1st Place Music, 2nd Place Science
Flang Nguyen: 5th Place Science and 5th Place Math
Khoa Nguyen: 4th Place Art, 5th Place Math, 2nd Place Music, 1st Place Science, 5th Place Speech.
Kristy Nguyen: 3rd Place Art, 2nd Place Economics, 1st Place Interview, 3rd Place Literature, 1st Place Music

WHS OCAD coaches are Mrs. Angus for Literature, Mrs. Nelson and Mrs. Anderson for Art, Mrs. Harmon for Economics, Mr. Collins for Interview, Ms. Braun for Anatomy, Mrs. Donovon for Math, Mrs. Lanz for Speech and Essay, Vickie Adams from Toastmasters for Speech, and Mrs. Sebastian for Music and Super Quiz.
Support Staff are Mrs. Smith for organizing the team's class schedules, Mrs. Hartley for transcripts, Nancy Gucciardo for facilities coordination, Mrs. Bowen for online testing, Ms. Gay the Webmaster, Rick Clark and Kevin Heggstrom, custodians and other staff members without whom the program would not run smoothly.
